✨How Strategic Positioning Can Make or Break Your Private Practice✨
When I started my private practice doing HRT, weight loss, and medical aesthetics back in 2020, GLPs for weight loss were not even a thing yet. It's hard to believe that they really haven't even been around all that long. And creating a weight loss program was still a very popular service to introduce because we still had several treatment modalities at our fingertips. But had I advertised my practice based on what I was prescribing and then decided to pivot into GLPs, my marketing and positioning could've really confused my audience. But instead, I promoted metabolic optimization and tools I used weren't discussed until a customized treatment plan was in motion.
Because what I was offering my clients was a service, not a product.
In today’s healthcare landscape, understanding the difference between a service and a commodity is crucial for small private practices. A commodity is a standardized product that can be easily replaced or substituted, often competing primarily on price.
In contrast, a service is personalized, offering unique value that fosters patient loyalty and differentiation in a crowded market.
For small private practices, positioning healthcare offerings as services rather than commodities, is essential.
This strategic approach involves focusing on personalized care, building strong patient-practitioner relationships, and delivering exceptional experiences that cannot be easily replicated by larger, more impersonal healthcare providers.
And marketing plays a pivotal role in this strategy. Emphasizing the unique aspects of your practice—such as individualized treatment plans, direct access to practitioners, and a deep understanding of patient needs—helps to distinguish your practice from competitors who may be seen as offering commoditized, one-size-fits-all solutions.
"$297 for a vial of semaglutide" ring a bell?
If that is your angle, that's ok. But plan to compete with digital health on this "product" and the struggle to meet the volume to make this business model make sense for the sole practitioner; especially if you want to make over $10/hr. It just doesn't work. But what does is creating a unique and creative, service based, clinical product.
Business operations should reflect this service-oriented mindset by ensuring every touchpoint, from the initial consultation to follow-up care, is geared toward enhancing patient experience. This could involve investing in patient education, utilizing advanced technology for personalized treatment, and maintaining a welcoming, supportive environment. And offering services and insight that are just not possible in a cold digital environment.
By focusing on delivering high-quality, patient-centered services, small private practices can avoid the pitfalls of being viewed as a commodity and instead build a loyal patient base, leading to sustained growth and success in the competitive healthcare market. This is what we teach inside The Advanced Practice Business Academy. From creating a specialized client experience to building unique, outcome driven packages, it is a comprehensive business accelerator for pracititioners that want to build profitable and sustainable private practices that stand out in the marketplace.

GLPs Coming Off The FDA Shortage List In The Near Future
If you haven't heard, big changes are coming for GLP-1 medications like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. If you are offering these medications from a compounding pharmacy, you're going to want to pay attention as this develops. As these medications are expected to come off the shortage list soon, Eli Lilly has started issuing cease-and-desist letters to small private practices and medspas that are advertising them, even not using the brand names. This shift will impact access for many patients. We recently hosted a live event in our Facebook community to discuss what this means for your practice and alternative strategies moving forward.
To keep our community informed, we hosted a LIVE event with Marti Law Group, a firm practicing law in all 50 states, sharing what to do next, how to be compliant, and we also shared the FDA document outlining exactly what constitutes a workaround, and what definitely doesn't. Watch the replay before we take it down under "Events" and stay informed—join our Facebook community to watch or listen before it's gone. |

Miracle Drug Slows Aging of The Ovary
👉🏻“HRT is a Band-Aid for aging that has already taken place but if women take rapamycin in their 30s, when their ovaries start to decline but there aren’t yet any symptoms, they can actually slow the whole aging process", according to this article recently published in The Guardian.
Recent studies suggest that Rapamycin, a drug known for its role in anti-aging research, could be a breakthrough in delaying menopause by preserving ovarian function and slowing down reproductive aging. By extending the health of eggs and stabilizing hormone levels, Rapamycin may help women maintain fertility longer, improve quality of life, and enhance overall health as they age. Delaying menopause has wide-reaching benefits, from reducing risks of age-related diseases to maintaining vitality and well-being in later years—making this research particularly exciting in women’s health and longevity.
👉🏻HOT TAKE: Wearables Will Only Become More Relevant To Longevity Care and Personalized Medicine, Not Less.
Recent findings emphasize that sleep variability—how consistent sleep duration and timing are—can be just as crucial as sleep length and quality in preventing chronic diseases. Irregular sleep patterns can exacerbate health risks like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. For clinicians, wearables present an opportunity to gather more granular data on sleep patterns, helping provide a more in-depth analysis. By tracking sleep consistency alongside duration and quality, clinicians can offer more personalized recommendations for disease prevention and overall wellness. In this particular study, FitBits were used, but Oura ring could also be a recommendation to track sleep data on your patients to create targeted interventions at improving risk factors.

The Crossover of Aesthetics and Weight Loss: Services for Optimal Holistic Results
👉🏻An article published in Vogue Business states as weight loss drugs like Ozempic gain popularity, they’re driving a shift in consumer behavior within the luxury and aesthetics markets. Patients achieving rapid weight loss are increasingly seeking complementary treatments to address the changes in their appearance, such as sagging skin or loss of facial volume. This trend presents a unique opportunity for clinicians to offer bundled treatment packages that combine weight loss programs with body contouring, skin tightening, and facial rejuvenation. By creating comprehensive transformation packages, you can attract a clientele looking for holistic solutions to their evolving aesthetic goals.
For instance, a package might include weight loss peptides alongside non-invasive treatments like radio-frequency skin tightening or injectable fillers to help maintain facial definition post-weight loss. By catering to this growing demand, your practice can position itself as a leader in holistic wellness and aesthetic transformations. This is how you step away from commodity driven business and set your practice apart from the rest. Solve deeper problems for your high end clients rather than chasing people with discounts and one off treatments they can get anywhere.
